Charles F. Hollis III, Esq. - Attorney Bio

Charles F. Hollis, III (“Chuck”) was born in Covington, Kentucky on August 25, 1971. He is a graduate of Northern Kentucky University (B.A. History & Political Science, summa cum laude), the University of Cincinnati College of Law (J.D.), and the University of Helsinki Faculty of Law (LL.M. International Law) in Finland. He has also done coursework at the State Pushkin Institute for Russian Language, and Lomonosov Moscow State University.

Mr. Hollis is the chairman of BY&H’s Immigration Law Department. His practice entails all aspects of immigration law, ranging from family and employment-related matters, to asylum, naturalization and citizenship matters. He speaks Russian, and also has a working knowledge of French and German. Mr. Hollis has represented immigration clients from all over the world. He is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and it’s Ohio Subchapter.

In June, 2007, Mr. Hollis presented a lecture at a labor and employment law symposium hosted by the Center for International Legal Studies in Salzburg, Austria. Mr. Hollis' presentation was entitled "Employment-Based Immigration in the United States: An Overview."

Mr. Hollis’ practice also entails a wide variety of other fields, including: international law, trial and appellate practice, personal injury, corporate and small business law, construction, estate planning and probate, and insurance law.

Mr. Hollis has been the lead counsel in fifteen jury trials and approximately forty arbitrations. He also serves regularly on arbitration panels. Mr. Hollis' experience as a litigator is a valuable asset in his immigration practice, as it enables him to skillfully present the evidence and arguments often needed to prevail.

Volunteer work is also an important part of Mr. Hollis' practice. He frequently accepts referrals on immigration matters from Cincinnati's Volunteer Lawyers Project, counseling clients whose financial situations preclude them from retaining counsel on their own. In 2006, Benjamin, Yocum & Heather, LLC, Mr. Hollis' firm, was presented with the Cincinnati Bar Association's Volunteer Lawyer of the Year award.

Mr. Hollis is an active member of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cincinnati, the European-American Chamber of Commerce, the Cincinnati-Ukraine Partnership, the World Affairs Council of Greater Cincinnati, and Soteni International, an organization dedicated to HIV prevention and education in Kenya. He is also secretary of the Ohio-Kentucky-Indiana Sister Cities Coalition.

Mr. Hollis is a Russia scholar, having lived, worked and studied in Moscow on multiple occasions. His favorite pastimes include international travel, reading (especially world history and classic literature), tennis, photography and classical music. Mr. Hollis and his fiancée, Angelika, a native of Poland, plan to marry next year.
